It can be used for testing and can process up to 10 yards per hour. It can also handle wash-ups from bigger screens. The concentrate can then be processed over a gold wheel or amalgamated with mercury.
The plant consists of a hopper 1.5m long by 1.3m wide made of 4mm plate. The trommel is 700mm in diameter and has a wall thickness of 9mm with punched plate mesh fitted with 6mm aperature. Trommel drive is by way of 2 U belts to a reduction box driven by a 1 H/P electric motor.
A Knudson bowl is fitted by way of rails that can be pulled to one side to empty it into a 10 litre bucket that is held underneath. From the Knudson bowl we have fitted a riffle box that will catch any gold floaters or surplus if the bowl is fed too fast or not with the right amount of water.
At the rear of the trommel we have fitted a riffle to catch any gold over 6mm. It needs to be monitored.
The unit is fitted to a sprung trailer with mesh floor and levelling legs.
Power is single phase and takes approx 3-4 KVA to drive.
Water flow intake at approx 65 gallons per minute is best. 2 inch lay flats with 2 inch water pump.
